Days 81-90
Day 81
it was raining so I went out with the point and shoot again, I'm not really a fan of how it shoots in b&w, especially compared to the Lumix. There's not really much that I'm happy or impressed with today. I think it's up there for the least interesting day of the whole challenge. Oh well, at least I know now that when shooting b&w, not to bring this camera.
Day 82
Much more of a fan of today, this camera is definitely better for black and white photography. I find myself typically being pretty zoomed in when shooting, so I think I'll try and figure out how to take photos that I like on my 14mm lens instead, since I pretty well never shoot at that focal length.
Day 83
When I was first shooting with this lens I didn't like it at all, but now I'm vibing with it. You really need to lean into the wide angle of it and can't be taking the same photos as with something like a M43 25mm+ lens for sure. I haven't shot with this lens for a long while, so I feel like the new photos being good just showcases how much I've grown as a photographer, which is nice.
Day 84
I went to the park to get some photos where the PMR Ska Collective was playing. They were absolutely fantastic, and had great vibes. Would highly recommend checking them out. Listening to live music playing in the park is honestly so good for the soul. It just makes you feel so complete and connected with the world. Super happy I got to discover them. also today's pictures were cool too i guess.
Day 85
Today was pretty good, i think it turned out pretty well and I'm doing good at taking advantage of the wide focal length. I think tomorrow I'm going to try and take some more close up shots and see how that works, since I've mostly been taking far away shots. Since this is a prime lens, I imagine it would go pretty well since there's such an open aperture.
Day 86
Tried to get some more close up shots, and they worked fairly well, especially for these close up shots of flowers. I think now that I've done a week of this, I can go back to shooting in colour with my zoom lens
Day 87
For a first day back into colour, I think the lighting for a lot of this would have been phenomenal for black and white. I'm still happy to be back in colour though, you can definitely tell the difference when shooting red things, since the colour pop of it is way more than the luminosity difference when in B&W/
Day 88
I decided to venture into a different area than I normally shoot, and I think not doing that was causing me to get bored. I was shooting in the same areas, so I wasn't really seeing anything, so of course I'm going to start feeling uninspired. Even a mild change of environment changes everything.
Day 89
I think today was probably one of my favourite days so far of the whole project. I feel like it's very illustrative of the whole thing, with all the photos being very my style, but in a different way.
Day 90
As expected, going out to new places is really the jump that I needed. These photos are definitely more exciting than a lot of my other stuff from the past few weeks. It was good that I took the time to figure out what I like in the local area, so that when I'm in these new areas, I know what I like enough to be able to capture some very solid photos.
